Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

Acceptance

By accessing or using Get Area Aware ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Service description

Get Area Aware provides crime data, safety information, and area insights using publicly available data from official sources including UK police open data, FBI Uniform Crime Reporting, and Indian National Crime Records Bureau reports. The Service also allows users to submit crowdsourced incident reports.

No guarantee of accuracy

Crime data is provided "as is" from public sources and may lag current events. Crowdsourced reports are user-generated and have not been independently verified unless marked as verified. The Service does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data presented.

The Service presents data and comparisons only. It does not constitute a safety assessment, risk evaluation, or recommendation about any area or property. Always verify with local knowledge and official sources.

Crowdsourced reports

Users may submit incident reports including category, description, date, time, location coordinates, and optional photo. By submitting a report you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share any photos provided.

All reports are reviewed by an admin before being published on the map. We reserve the right to reject, remove, or edit any report that violates these Terms.

You retain ownership of your content but grant Get Area Aware a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute it through the Service.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or defamatory reports
  • Upload images containing identifiable individuals without consent
  • Use the Service to harass, threaten, or target any individual or group
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data without written permission
  • Attempt to bypass moderation, rate limits, or access controls

Disclaimer of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Get Area Aware and its operators shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience arising from the use of the Service or reliance on its data. Use the Service at your own risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be notified on the site.
